Like all great adventures there comes a time when fears and doubts creep in to our minds. Here are some questions that I’ve asked myself when thinking about the change ahead:

  • Should I go?
  • How do I know it’s the right thing to do for me?
  • What if I’m wrong?
  • What will happen if I don’t like it there after a while?
  • Can I teach English to foreigners?
  • Will I actually like Thai culture once I’m there?

These are all valid concerns, so I need to address them for my own peace of mind. When I think about life and the adventure living it really is, I know that all that matters is to support and realise my dreams. In the end all that matters to me is that I honour the part of me that embraces being open and brave to the possibilities life presents. One of the strategies I’ve employed is to ask opposing questions to balance out the negative or fearful aspect of doubts: > > Can I easily regain what I’m leaving behind if things don’t work out there? > How easy would it be to get another job here if I need to return? > What will it take to make this dream a reality? > How will I know when I can make the move? > What are the costs going to be? > How will I make friends there? > What should I do with my stuff here? > > This sounds like a good introduction to make an FAQ on the blog…
